Itinerary

  • Fly from the UK to Calgary, transfer to hotel for overnight stay
  • Transfer from Calgary to Banff, overnight at hotel
  • Banff is a resort town in the province of Alberta, located within Banff National Park. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline. On Banff Avenue, the main thoroughfare, boutiques and restaurants mix with château-style hotels and souvenir shops. The surrounding 6,500 square kilometres of parkland are home to wildlife including elk and grizzly bears.
  • Transfer to the train station to board the Rocky Mountaineer, which will take you through the Rockies towards Kamloops, overnight at hotel
  • Transfer to the train station for your onward Rocky Mountaineer journey to Vancouver, overnight at hotel
  • As British Columbia's largest city, Vancouver is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and cosmopolitan adventurers alike. Framed by the Pacific Ocean and Coast Mountains, Vancouver's meandering oceanside pathways are the perfect way to explore the city. Close to 30 kilometres of uninterrupted waterfront path surround Vancouver's favourite neighbourhoods, including the seawall around Stanley Park.
  • Embark ship
  • The fabled Inside Passage is one of the most scenic sea-lanes in the world, and one of the few where deep-draft vessels can sail close to steep mountain walls. The scenery is unbelievable, with forests in a hundred shades of green, tumbling turquoise glaciers, and evocative towns loaded with history, culture and adventure. With most of Southeast Alaska accessible only by boat or plane, the Inside Passage is a lifeline to the outside world.
  • Icy Strait Point is a privately owned tourist destination just outside the small village of Hoonah, Alaska. It is located on Chichagof Island and is named after the nearby Icy Strait. Owned by Huna Totem Corporation, it is the only privately owned cruise destination in Alaska, as most stops are owned by the cities in which they are located. Huna Totem Corporation is owned by approximately 1,350 Alaskan Natives with aboriginal ties to Hoonah and the Glacier Bay area. Many of them are of the Tlingit people.
  • Some of the aspiring Klondike gold rushers who made it to Skagway took a look at the 500-mile journey that still lay ahead of them and decided a change of profession was in order. So many of them set up shops as provisioners that Skagway was the largest city in Alaska by the end of the 19th century. Booms fade and dreams move on, but the glory days still reverberate through the town. Take a ride on the Take a trip on the White Pass & Yukon Railway or ride up the Klondike Highway which will take you to places where you can roll up your sleeves and do some prospecting of your own.
  • Admire the pristine, untouched natural beauty of Endicott Arm Fjord, a 30-mile stretch of water located at the southern end of the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness area. Experience breathtaking scenery as you sail past steep granite cliffs, floating icebergs, and cascading waterfalls on an Alaska cruise. During your cruise down Endicott Arm, look for groups of adorable harbor seals that are often found lounging on chunks of ice or diving around the icy water. Your journey through this majestic waterway will end with a show-stopping visit to Dawes Glacier, where you'll witness the thunderous roar of ice as it crashes into the sea during a calving display.
  • Juneau is the capital of Alaska perched on a hillside where the historical downtown buildings give it a somewhat frontier feel. 4000ft mountains create a dramatic backdrop to the city, beyond which lies the Juneau Icefield from which 30 glaciers flow, the most famous being the Mendenhall Glacier
  • Known as the Salmon capital of the world and Alaska's "First City," Ketchikan offers a wide variety of things to do. Visit the Potlatch Totem Park, home to one of the most elaborate collections of wood carvings in the World.
  • Have your binoculars and camera ready as you enjoy further scenic cruising en route back to Vancouver.
  • Disembark ship and transfer to airport for overnight flight to UK
  • Arrive back into the UK
