Overview

Book this comprehensive cruise of the Orient to visit the top hot spots with ease. Get your holiday off to a great start in Singapore where modern architecture sits comfortably with ancient traditions. The island of a thousand shopping malls has lots to offer including the Gardens by the Bay and the futuristic Supertree Grove. Perhaps have a cocktail in the famous Raffles Hotel and admire the architecture of the Marina Bay Sands hotel where the swimming pool spans across the roof top of its three towers. The cruise itinerary offers a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, cuisine, cultures and traditions from the floating markets in Bangkok, the beauty of the vast Vietnamese Coastline and the ultra modern metropolis of Hong Kong.

Itinerary

  • Fly overnight from the UK to Singapore.
  • Transfer to your hotel for two-nights' stay. Singapore is situated at the end of the Malaysian peninsula and is a tropical paradise often referred to as the “Island with a thousand shopping malls”. This tiny island nation packs in more malls per square mile than any other country in the world. Visit the 2.2km stretch of Orchard Road - the Oxford Street of Singapore, Chinatown, Little India and the vast Bugis Street Market. Enjoy a tour of Chinatown, have afternoon tea in the famous Raffles Hotel or take a cable car ride to Sentosa Island for some panoramic views. Gardens by the Bay is a nature park with futuristic looking tree sculptures covering 101 hectares of land, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. You will find two waterfront conservatories: the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest; and the Supertree Grove with 18 manmade trees which reach heights of up to 16 storeys. The Supertrees can be found all around the Gardens by the Bay - twelve are at the Supertree Grove, while the remaining six are placed in clusters of threes at the Golden and Silver Gardens. The best time to visit Gardens by the Bay is in the late afternoon, around 4-5pm. Start with the cooled conservatories, and then go up to the OCBC Skyway in the evening when the weather is cooler. At the Supertree Grove, there is a nightly show (free admission), that showcases the magical lights of the super trees to music. You can also visit the Sky Park observation deck 57 floors on top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel. This striking hotel has an infinity pool and gardens which spans the roof over the three towers of the hotel.

  • Marvel at the quiet reverence of a Buddhist temple such as the Golden Buddha and the 150 foot long golden Reclining Buddha. Visit the Grand Palace - an ornate royal residence built in 1782 and the ornate temples that line the banks of the river in Bangkok. Indulge in some tasty satays and exotic curries in a Bangkok café and watch everyday life pass you by. Perhaps visit the floating river market or use you time here to visit Bridge on the River Kwai.

Experience the world of the Cu Chi freedom fighters with a visit to their famous tunnel system.
