Join us on this super holiday featuring: a return trip on the Shakespeare Express Steam train between Derby and Stratford on Avon with a guided walking tour; WWII International Bomber Command Centre, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre with a private tour of its historic hangar and lunch at Petwood Hall Hotel; Chatsworth House guided tour with lunch, Bakewell Tart and a glass of Prosecco; Rutland Water cruise, Barnsdale Garden afternoon tea and Bakewell; Lincoln guided walking tour and afternoon Tea at Doddington Hall. We stay at Warner Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire, a grade I listed building providing expansive views of Robin Hood’s famous Sherwood Forest, with live entertainment every night, and exclusively for our guests a sparkling reception and free wine with dinner.

Itinerary

Check in from 3pm. Welcome sparkling reception with your Tour Manager before dinner with wine and entertainment in the hotel.
Full day coach trip to Lincoln one of England’s finest cities with is stunning Cathedral Quarter which includes the Cathedral, medieval Bishops Palace, the Castle of William the Conqueror and the famous Steep Hill a picturesque, cobbled street with a plethora of picturesque shops, offering everything from pies to fudge, and wine to hot chocolate. We enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and time at leisure. This afternoon we return to our hotel via the nearby Doddington Hall where we enjoy an afternoon tea. Dinner with wine and entertainment in the hotel.
This morning we join our coach and travel to Derby Railway Station where we join the Shakespeare Express steam train to Stratford on Avon. Sit back and relax in your seat from the golden age of train travel, this unique journey is only available a handful of times by steam train each year. On arrival in Stratford on Avon you will have time at leisure for lunch followed by a guided walking tour before boarding the train for our return to Derby and onward transfer to the hotel. Dinner with wine and entertainment in the hotel.

Full day coach trip to include The Battle of Britian Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, part of RAF Coningsby. Here you will have a guided tour of the hangar and be able to observe the RAF BBMF technicians maintaining the aircraft. The Hangar is home to a Lancaster PA474, Douglas Dakota ZA947, five spitfires, two hurricanes, and two chipmunks (please note we cannot guarantee the presence of specific aircraft as they may be out on loan or removed for maintenance). Afterwards we travel to the nearby Petwood Hall hotel for lunch and a glass of wine before travelling to the nearby International Bomber Command Centre a world class facility acknowledging the efforts, sacrifices and commitment of the men and women, from 62 different nations, who came together in Bomber Command during WWII. Dinner with wine and entertainment in the hotel.
Full day coach trip to include a boat trip on Rutland water and a visit to Barnsdale Gardens, Britain’s largest collection of individually designed gardens founded by Geoff Hamilton of BBC Gardeners World fame. Enjoy an afternoon tea at the tearoom before returning to the hotel. Dinner with wine and entertainment in the hotel.
Full day coach trip to Chatsworth House, a stunning stately home and gardens in the heart of Derbyshire. Recognised by many as the backdrop of many films including Pride and Prejudice (both 2005 film and BBC series 1995), The Duchess (2008), The Wolfman (2009), and TV drama Death Comes to Pemberley. Here we have a guided tour of the house, entry to the gardens and an included two course lunch with a glass of prosecco and the local delicacy for dessert, Bakewell Tart. Continue to Bakewell where we have time to look around before returning to the hotel. Dinner with wine and entertainment in the hotel.
