The Royal Capitals of Scandinavia

Travel by Air

1days from
£0*per person

Overview

There’s something special about Scandinavia in the summertime; the picturesque cities come to life, the evenings seem impossibly light and the atmosphere is wonderfully joyous. We experience it for ourselves on this lovely break, admiring the beauty of the three Scandinavian capitals and discovering their highlights on fascinating guided tours. Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm are all known for their fresh clean air, a plethora of parks, green spaces and stunning architecture, including grand palaces, all in pretty waterfront settings.

Itinerary

  • We fly to Copenhagen and transfer to our hotel in the city where we stay for two nights. The evening is left free to enjoy dinner in a restaurant of your choice.
  • Denmark’s capital of Copenhagen is home to the world's oldest monarchy. Around the city there are castles, palaces, monuments and statues, the most famous being the Little Mermaid. The city also boasts many parks and gardens, including the enchanting Tivoli Gardens and myriad shopping streets. A network of charming canals thread through the city and its lovely waterfront is lined with colourful buildings. We see some of these sights on our guided city coach tour, followed by free time to explore at leisure. Tonight, we enjoy dinner together back at the hotel.
  • Today we transfer between Copenhagen and Oslo, enjoying the scenery along the way. We leave Copenhagen over the impressive Øresund Bridge and arrive in Sweden, where we head northwards before crossing the border into Norway and travel on to our hotel in Oslo, our base for the next two nights. We enjoy dinner together at this hotel this evening.
  • We enjoy a guided city tour of Oslo. Norway’s capital city is built on the shores of the Oslo Fjord surrounded by rolling hills and forests. Parks and open green spaces are an integral part of the landscape of Oslo including the renowned Vigeland Sculpture Park. Other attractions include the Royal Palace, the medieval Akershus Castle which dominates the harbour front and the magnificent modern Opera House made of marble and glass. After our tour of the city we have free time to look around for ourselves; perhaps pay a visit to Oslo’s Bygdøy peninsula, where you’ll find the Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum. There is time to find a local restaurant to enjoy dinner before we return to our hotel.
  • We check out of our hotel and head towards Stockholm. After crossing the border, we travel across Sweden to the east coast where we check in to our hotel in the Stockholm area for the next two nights. We enjoy dinner together at the hotel this evening.
  • Located on the Baltic Sea and spread out over 14 islands, over a third of Sweden’s capital city of Stockholm is made up of waterways, and a third more is green spaces. We enjoy a guided city tour to see its highlights, including the Old Town, one of the largest and best-preserved medieval city centres in Europe, with narrow winding cobblestone streets and buildings in golden hues, also the location of the Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral. After our guided tour, there’s free time to explore at leisure and to find a local restaurant to enjoy dinner before we return to our hotel.
  • We travel back through Sweden towards Copenhagen, again crossing the Øresund Bridge, for our final overnight hotel stay with dinner included.
  • We check out of our hotel and transfer to Copenhagen airport for our flight home.
