Overview

Join us on this exclusive, fun and friendly cruise on board the four-star MS Verdi. Ports of call include two nights in Amsterdam, stops with time to explore in Hoorn, Arnhem, Antwerp and Ghent. As well as this we enjoy included excursions to Keukenhof Gardens and Bruges plus the opportunity to visit Ypres. Entertainment every night with GN favourites Keith Slater and Little Miss 60s (Nancy Ann Lee).

Itinerary

  • Mid-morning, escorted departure from St Pancras on the direct train* to Amsterdam arriving mid-afternoon. Or depart from your chosen airport to Amsterdam. On arrival transfer to the MS Verdi. Dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board. Overnight in Amsterdam.
  • After breakfast we join the coach for the included excursion to Keukenhof – departing from Amsterdam and returning to the ship in Hoorn. A packed lunch is included on this excursion. These world famous gardens are where more than 7 million tulips, daffodils and hyacinths fill over 32 hectares with colour and fragrance. You can even cruise through the bulbfields in electric powered ‘whisper boats’ (not included). We rejoin the ship in Hoorn mid-afternoon. Those who do not want to visit Keukenhof can cruise from Amsterdam to Hoorn on MS Verdi. Dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board. Ship sets sail during dinner for overnight sailing to Arnhem.
  • This morning we dock early in Arnhem, nestled along the banks of the majestic Rhine River Arnhem is famously known for the pivotal Battle of Arnhem during World War II, a story immortalized in the book and film, “A Bridge Too Far”. Morning at leisure or you may like to join the optional tour by coach and with a guide along the fields where the paratroopers landed to the Airborne Museum and cemetery at Oosterbeek on our return we will make a brief stop at the John Frost Bridge in Arnhem. Lunch on board as we set sail for Antwerp. Dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board.
  • This morning we wake up in Belgium and dock in Antwerp, once a major trading hub of the 16th Century Golden Age and known as the Diamond Capital of the World. Today is free to stroll into town and visit the main market square, see the imposing Renaissance-style Town Hall, flanked on both sides by a row of 16th-century guild houses or you make like to join the optional city walking tour which includes a visit to a Diamond Museum. Lunch, dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board. Overnight in Antwerp.
  • Morning included excursion by coach to the UNESCO World Heritage Medieval City of Bruges. Here you are free to enjoy the labyrinth of stunning alleyways and streets intertwined with the picturesque canal network or you may like to join the optional city walking tour and Canal cruise. We return to the ship for lunch on board and set sail for Ghent arriving after dinner. Dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board.
  • Morning is free in one of Belgium’s oldest cities, Ghent, once an industrial city and now said to be one of Europe’s best kept secrets and a heritage treasure trove, or you may like to join the optional walking tour. Alternatively, join the optional guided excursion to Ypres the “City of Peace” site of numerous battles during WWI, here we visit the In Flanders Fields Museum and have free time to visit the town and the famous Menin Gate. Return to the ship for lunch on board. Late afternoon set sail for Amsterdam. Dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board.
  • Arrive Amsterdam during Breakfast. Enjoy a full day at leisure, or choose an optional guided walking tour or canal cruise. Amsterdam continues to enthral visitors with its maze of canals and waterways, distinctive architecture and cafe culture. With the world’s highest museum density, the city is home to the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Hermitage Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum with Rembrandt’s world- famous Nightwatch. Lunch, dinner, free drinks and entertainment on board.
  • After breakfast we disembark the ship and transfer to Amsterdam Central station to take the direct train* to London St Pancras. Alternatively, transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. Note: Order and times of events and excursions may be subject to change. *Eurostar has stated that from June 2024 until early 2025 they won’t be running any direct trains from London to Amsterdam & Rotterdam due to major track works at Amsterdam Central Station. Whilst we hope that these will be completed by April 2025 it may be that the route will be via Brussels with one change.

Cruise Overview
The four-star MS Verdi. Built in 2015 and formally known as The MS Monarch Empress, she accommodates up to 122 guests in 70 spacious cabins 56 of which have French Balconies. The impressive Reception on the Upper Deck gives access to the welcoming lounge and bar, with easy chairs, great views from large picture windows, and a dance floor. At the rear of the deck there is a second smaller lounge and library. The Sun deck has sun loungers, chairs and an area which is partly covered with wind protection so suitable for all weathers.
Cabin Details
On the Upper Deck you’ll find suites (210 sq ft), standard rear cabins (150 sq ft) or the more spacious 170 sq ft standard cabins. All standard cabins are available as double, twin or single. On this deck all cabins have French Balconies**. On the Middle Deck available are rear standard (150 sq ft), larger (170 sq ft) standard cabins and (210 sq ft) suites. All standard cabins are available as double, twin or single. On this deck all cabins have French Balconies**. On the Lower Deck you find double and single (140 sq ft cabins) all with double or twin beds. All cabins on this deck have picture windows.
Dining Details
The restaurant is on the Middle Deck features large picture windows and is light and airy with modern decor, furnishings and a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Diners can enjoy generous buffet breakfasts, three course lunches and four course dinners.

Entertainment:

Nancy Ann Lee is best known as “Little Miss Sixties” where she has received rave reviews for being one of the liveliest tributes to the 60s divas including Lulu whose songs make a huge contribution to the show. Remember Shout, Relight My Fire, Teardrops, The Man Who Sold the World, To Sir With Love and more.

Multi-talented Keith Slater has been a professional musician since 1981 and sings hits from the 60s to present day. He has performed with well known artistes Malcolm Stent, Don Maclean and in award winning bands Inheritance and Vivo.
