Niagara Falls, All-inclusive Canada & New England Getaway

Includes a Niagara Falls boat tour

15days from
£2,419*per person

Overview

Join Norwegian Cruise Line for this sophisticated adult holiday combining scenery, shopping and experience the myriad colours of the Fall season sailing the coastline of the Canadian Maritime region. Visit the honeymoon capital of the world and experience the roaring power up close of Lake Eerie spilling into Lake Ontario on a thrilling boat ride to the base of the falls or a helicopter flight over the falls. You will also enjoy world class shopping on 5th Avenue and memorable sights of the Big Apple made familiar in many films and TV shows.

Itinerary

  • Transfer to your hotel in Niagara Falls for an overnight hotel stay. The journey takes you past the shores of Lake Ontario, Hamilton and St Catherine's along the QEW highway into the heart of Niagara Falls.
  • A further two nights' hotel stay. Dependant on the date of travel - either enjoy an exciting helicopter flight over falls (October to April) or an exhilarating boat ride to the base of the falls. Perhaps try your luck in the casino or enjoy the views from the top of the Skylon Tower. This fertile region of Canada has many orchards, vineyards & wineries; and picturesque Niagara On the Lake is not to be missed! This was the original capital of Canada and is now a heritage town full of shops, restaurants and pristine groomed sidewalks and gardens. The famous Floral Clock and Brock's Monument are also interesting sights to see.
  • Board the Amtrak Maple Leaf train at 1020 for an Upstate New York train journey across the border all the way to Manhattan arriving at 10pm for an overnight hotel stay. The journey takes approximately 11 hours through the lush greenery of Upstate New York past the Finger Lakes region, Adirondack Mountains, Cranberry Lakes and through some major historic landmarks. There is an intriguing mix of early European settlers trading with native Mohawk Indians and some big names in American corporate history, such as GEC, Kodak and Xerox. Perhaps opt for a holiday in the Fall (autumn) when the air is crisp and the foliage is turning a magnificent array of colours, from russet to orange, red and yellow.
  • A further two nights' hotel stay. Definitely take advantage of the shopping on 5th Avenue and benefit from lower prices due to the exchange rate. Perhaps marvel at the vista from the viewing platform at the top of the Empire State Building as the sun sets over the horizon and the lights twinkle on.
  • Make your own way to the nearby Manhattan Cruise Terminal to embark the ship.
  • In the 19th century, Newport was America's Versailles. It was here that the great merchant princes and robber barons of the Gilded Age erected the elaborate summerhouses they so ingenuously dubbed "cottages." At the height of its splendour, a Newport season was a giddy whirl of grand fetes, yacht races and elaborate beach picnics for assorted Vanderbilts and Astors. Today, it is the privileged traveller who marvels at the splendour of great mansions such as The Breakers, The Elms, or Rosecliff.
  • Portland is perched on a peninsula, jutting out into the island-studded Casco Bay. This lovely maritime city of 230,000 people is famous for its fresh lobster and is a progressive, lively city incorporating the character of yesteryear into a modern urban environment.
  • Visit Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park - a stunning mix of sea-scoured shores, towering cliffs, and forested mountains.
  • Located on one of the worlds great natural harbours, Halifax is adorned with landmarks like the Citadel fortress, Pier 21 (Canada's Ellis Island), and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - which is well worth a visit to see the artefacts recovered from the Titanic. Learn about the formation of World War II convoys which gathered here to run the gauntlet of U-Boats across the Atlantic and the gun ship collision during World War I which caused as catastrophic explosion and flattened the city. Another interesting spot to visit is the graveyard of the victims from the Titanic disaster which were recovered by the local fleet. Beyond the city, you can discover the weather-beaten landscape of Nova Scotia's south shore. See craggy coastlines, and the German village of Lunenburg - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • This charming town is situated on the Bay of Fundy which has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world. The St John river empties into the Bay of Fundy here and when the tide is low the water cascades one way and when the tide is high the water reverses and cascades the other. Many people come here for this reason to take white water ride in the reversing falls.
  • Relax and make the most of the myriad of facilities available on board the ship, from fantastic entertainment to delicious and diverse dining options.
  • Disembark the ship after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home.
  • Arrive into the UK after your overnight flights from New York.
